Drive-thru drug testing

Written by: Alan Baker 9th November, 2022

Drug testing at festivals is not an innovation. In fact, Bericon’s Director, Alan Baker was involved in pioneering work in the 1990s at Glastonbury festival.

An on-site laboratory was set up at nearby Bath and West showground in conjunction with Avon and Somerset police.

The facility allowed the processing of individuals in real-time, as any suspects sample was immediately tested using a Gas Chromography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), which had been temporarily relocated to the site from the laboratory, complete with trained staff and reporting scientists.

The service may not have made the festival safer but it certainly speeded-up justice.
