Situation…

Following a drugs investigation, the defendant’s flat was raided and various items were seized including several mobile phones, large amounts of cannabis, and a blue notebook that supposedly contained a drug debtors list.

Action…

Bericon Forensics supplied the Solicitors with specimen handwriting forms for the defendant to complete and return. We then analysed the handwriting in the blue notebook compared them and expressed an opinion as to the likelihood of the disputed writing having been made by the defendant.

Result…

We concluded that most of the writings were so fragmented that no attempt should be made to indicate authorship and there was evidence that some of the writing was not written by the defendant. Therefore the report was in favour of the defence and the CPS dropped the case
