Crime Scene Evaluation

Crime Scene Evaluation

In a case involving a serious crime such as murder or a fatal arson, it is usual for the investigating Police Force to call upon the services of a lab-based forensic scientist.

This expert will assess the scene with regard to, for example, the possible point of entry and the deposition of shoemarks and the transfer of fibres or glass.

In a case where blood has been shed by the victim (and/or the assailant) the scientist will also review the bloodstain pattern evidence, which may assist in establishing the chronology and nature of any attack.

Whilst this is of prime importance at the outset of an investigation it should not be forgotten that an assessment of the scene at this early stage could also be of use to a defence team.

Bericon is able to provide experienced scene examiners to visit any nationwide location and, working alongside the instructing solicitors, undertake an independent assessment review of the scene.

In addition, we are also able to resource the photography of the scene and provide Court-ready albums of photographs. This capability also extends to the photography of individuals whom may have been injured during the course of an incident.
