Fingerprints - The Future
A fingerprint inquiry was launched after police officer Shirley McKie was acquitted of perjury. Flawed fingerprint analysis was the only evidence against her. A report concludes that human error was to blame and it raises serious concerns about how fingerprint experts present any matches. It goes further by saying that it recommends that the experts no longer report conclusions with 100% certainty and evolve a process for complicated cases invoving three independent examiners.
