Drug-driving law - 2012?
After numerous delays, some of which have been caused by legal complications, an expert panel will advise the government about the introducing a new offence of driving after taking an illegal drug.
The group will consider whether it is scientifically possible to introduce maximum levels fo different drugs, akin to that for alcohol.
Saliva-based test kits are currently being considered for use by police forces but a deadline for introduction into police stations by the end of 2011 has been missed.
There needs to be many issues addressed before any testing regime can be implemented with confidence.
